Forest and Tavanna added their names to the rich farming history of McCormack farm in Burton, just outside of Nakusp. Forest was born and raised on the farm and is proud to be the fourth generation in the family to farm the land. Founded in 1903, the first farming enterprise was a 17 acre apple orchard. As time marched on the family’s focus changed, the farm began providing hay for the horse logging and mining operations. Beef cattle were added to the operation in the 1930s. During the 1980s, Forest’s parents cleared an additional 80 acres, moved the farm stead and proceeded to build an amazing farm infrastructure. In the last five years they’ve made the most drastic transition, farm to fork! Very little separates their customers from their farm as they have an open door policy and highly encourage people to come see where their food comes from. Their passion for farming stems from a love of growing both plants and animals and providing high quality food to their community. Soil regeneration is now their greatest focus, through that they are able to provide very high quality products including grass fed beef, pastured pork, chicken, turkey, eggs, and too many organic fruits and vegetables to list here!
Forest and Tavanna are thrilled that their crops will be in full production season during Tribelle’s retreat dates and they look forward to showcasing to our guests some of the finest, ethically grown produce and meats that this region has to offer.
